Nimba United signs Cameroonian Midfielder

first_imgChampion club Nimba United has signed another foreign player as part of its plan to retain the league title.Cameroonian Michael Kouamo flew into the country with the Mountaineers after their match against Union Duala about two months ago in the CAF Champions League and has been training with the club.He has been waiting for the local league’s midseason transfer window to pen a deal; and the midfielder, who can also play as a center defender, signed a two-season contract on Wednesday.If he obtains a work permit and fulfill other necessary labor requirements, Kouama will make his debut on Sunday, when the Mountaineers battle NPA Anchors.The midfielder’s move was made possible by his Russia-based agent, who was in the country over the weekend to complete the deal. Kouama played for Djalla Quan, a Cameroonian second division side before leaving to join the Liberian champions.Speaking to reporters after signing the contract, Kouama expressed delight over joining the club, promising to help the Mountaineers retain their league title.“I’m happy that the deal has now come through,” he said. “I’ve been here for more than a month to have the contract completed. United is a great club with great vision and I will help as much as I can to maintain her leadership.”The Cameroonian praised United’s technical staff for the confident reposed in him, and pledged to payback with good performance. “It has been a great atmosphere since I arrived here, the players, the technical team and the owners of the team have all been nice to me. Liberia is a nice place to be!” he added. ENTRIES OPEN FOR INAUGURAL DONEGAL MARATHON TEAM CHALLENGE CUP

first_imgDONEGAL MARATHON: There’s a new addition to this year’s Donegal Marathon and it’s the inaugural Donegal Marathon Team Challenge Cup. The relay event is open to all businesses, charities, sports clubs, societies and community  groups and anyone who can pull together a team of three or four to compete in the race. Runners of all levels will have the opportunity to pit their fitness levels against rival teams, all vying to get their hands on the inaugural Donegal Marathon Team Challenge Cup. The Team Challenge Cup was officially launched this week and entries for the relay event are now open via the Donegal Marathon website.Teams of three or four can enter the race in any format and the cost  per team is €140. Each team member will be tasked with running approximately 10km.Chairperson of the Donegal Marathon committee, Dessie Larkin, believes the Team Challenge Cup is a great opportunity for businesses, local organisations, family and friends to pull together and get active:“We’ve been investigating the possibility of a relay event since the Donegal Marathon was re-established in 2014 and we’re delighted that the Team Challenge Cup is happening this year.
